Get ready for an exciting event as Davison prepares to showcase the Erebus Mercedes in a rare public track appearance! This remarkable vehicle, one of the standout entries in modern Supercars history, will be in Davison's capable hands once again. He previously piloted this chassis for two seasons and celebrated a thrilling victory at Wanneroo Raceway back in 2015.
That win in Perth marked the second triumph for the Erebus Motorsport Mercedes, with the first victory occurring at Winton a year earlier, thanks to Lee Holdsworth's impressive performance.
This particular car, known as chassis number #SBR25-EM-03-12, was actively used by Erebus from 2013 until 2015 before it changed ownership to Penrite Oil Australia in 2022. The Mercedes E63 is now decked out in its vibrant Penrite 90th Anniversary livery, reminiscent of its final race weekend at Sydney Olympic Park during the concluding round of the 2015 season. That race was significant as it represented Mercedes' last appearance in the series before Erebus transitioned to Holden cars in the subsequent year.
Under the hood, this vehicle boasts an AMG-designed and manufactured 5-liter version of the M156 6.2 liter V8 engine, which met the Supercars regulations in effect at the time. One of the defining features of this car is its distinctive exhaust note—a sound that quickly gained popularity among fans, attributed to the engine’s unique flat plane crankshaft design.
Davison, who is not only a two-time Bathurst 1000 champion but also the winner of the 2012 Adelaide 500, is set to make his debut at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival in 2026. His return to driving the Mercedes follows an agreement where he will co-drive for the Penrite-supported Grove Racing team during this year's Supercars Enduro Cup.
Mark your calendars! The 2026 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival is scheduled to take place from February 28th to March 1st and promises to feature a diverse array of racing categories. You can expect to see everything from Formula 1 cars, Supercars, sportscars, touring cars, motorcycles, and much more.
But the excitement doesn’t stop on the track! Off the circuit, there will be engaging car displays, areas designed for kids, bars, food trucks, and a host of exhibitors and traders, ensuring there are plenty of fan-friendly activities throughout the venue. This festival is shaping up to be a fantastic celebration of motorsport, so don't miss out!
